THE NEXT DDS
Learning Objectives:
Upon hearing this podcast,
the listener should:
- Have a
better understanding about what group practices are
- Know
some advantages and disadvantages to entering into a group practice once
out of dental school
The dental industry has changed significantly over the past
two decades. Dentists are readily availed innovative products, technologies,
and procedures that aid in the oral health enhancement and emotional well being
of patients in ways early pioneers could never have imagined. The income of the
dental practitioner has generally outpaced inflation in recent years and, in
parts of the world, has even exceeded that of physicians. Technology continues
to move dentistry from primarily a surgical discipline into a digital and less
invasive medical model, with complements in pharmaceutical and biologic
advances. Learning communities interact more readily, thanks in part to the
Internet and the ease of communication it readily affords, and such groups include
partnerships among practitioners, industry, universities, and the like.
